How do I purchase a gift subscription on Cratejoy?

To purchase a gift subscription, visit the listing page for the Seller's box you are interested in. On the checkout page, you'll see an option to indicate "This is a gift". Here, you can enter the gift recipient's full name, the recipient's email address, select a date for the "Claim Your Gift" email to be sent to the recipient and include a personalized gift message. You can also select if you want the subscription to auto-renew or not.

What's required for setting up a gift subscription?

When you purchase a gift subscription, you will need to provide the gift recipient's email address and shipping address. If you do not have the recipient's email or it's for someone who does not have an email, we will need another valid contact email. 

Who owns the gift subscription?

When you purchase a gift subscription, you, the purchaser, "own" the subscription. This means you manage the billing, shipping, and subscription information for the gift. The subscription cannot be transferred to the recipient or to another person. Additionally, the gift subscription cannot be exchanged for another subscription on the Marketplace. Please keep in mind that the order details are not modifiable by the recipient. Cratejoy's Support Team is limited in the kind of support we will provide the gift recipient personally, to protect the security and privacy of the purchaser's account. 

What does the gift recipient see when they receive a gift subscription?

The gift recipient will receive a "Claim Your Gift" email at the recipient email address you provided during checkout.  An example of that email is provided in a screenshot at the bottom of this article.

What happens after the gift recipient claims a gift?

When the recipient clicks their "Claim Your Gift" email they will be prompted to either login or create a Cratejoy account. Once successfully claimed, this will appear in the "Gifts Claimed" section in their Cratejoy account. They will be able to view the gift summary and message, as well as an option to contact the Seller from within their Cratejoy account if they have questions related to shipping or the product itself. Claiming the gift and creating a Cratejoy account is not required of the gift recipient for the Seller to fulfill and ship the order.  However, if they would like to contact the Seller or track their shipment they will need to create an account.

How to update the shipping address for a gift?

To update the shipping address correlated to a gift, the Gift Purchaser can follow these steps:
1. Log in at Cratejoy.com and then click on Orders > Gifts Given > Manage Subscription > Edit Shipping Address
NOTE: This 1st step notes the address for future shipments with that subscription. However, since each seller on our platform has their own schedule of how quickly they prepare their shipments after an order is placed, you want to be sure to take this 2nd step as well:
2. Go to the Orders > Gifts Given  > Contact Seller button to send a message directly to the seller and bring the address change to their attention. This will also allow the seller to reply back if they need to clarify further.
