What should I name my product?

Make sure the name of your box is clear and concise.

What should I consider when adding photos?

We recommend 8-10 total images, 1200x800 for dimensions and 300ppi, showcasing high-quality, high-resolution photos of your box and the contents, including:

  • 2 images with all the products against a bright (preferably white) background 2 individual product shots against a bright (preferably white) background
  • 1-2 images of your branded box
  • 1-2 unboxing experience photos that showcase the products in your box
  • 1-2 lifestyle images featuring people using your products

Why does this matter?

For subscription boxes sold online, photos are the closest the consumer will get to picking up the product and experiencing it before they purchase. How your subscription box is seen by a subscriber factored into the perceived value of your box and their bottom-line decision to purchase. Tips for taking great photos can be found here.

What shipping information should I include?

Subscribers are 40% less likely to cancel if they know when their box will ship. This is a big deal! Include the last date to order and the ship date. Do you ship a welcome box immediately? If so, include that language. Include as much information about shipping so your customer knows what to expect. Lack of clarity around shipping is a big contributor to negative reviews and unhappy customers.

Below is an example of clear shipping instructions.

  • Your subscription box will be shipped on the 1st of the month. Order by the last day of the month to be included in the next month’s shipment.
  • First box ships immediately within 1-3 business days of your order. Subsequent boxes ship on the 15th of the following month.

What categories should I select?

You can select up to 3 categories. We recommend only choosing what’s relevant to your box, even if that means choosing one category. Including categories that aren’t a good fit for your box will lower your conversion rate.

What should I include in the product bullet points?

We suggest using all 5 available bullet points. You can include information like the total retail value if relevant, the number of products, the type of products, curation details, and anything else that makes your box stand out. Use this section to tell the story of your box!

Below is an example with good use of the bullet points:

  • All products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free
  • Items in the box may include: crystals, aromatherapy, vegan beauty, superfood snacks, tools for spiritual growth
  • Free shipping within the United States
  • 5 to 7 full-size products in each box
  • Typical box value $80 - $100

How can I use the Box Showcase feature?

Display your Current Box

Show off to potential subscribers your box currently available for sale. Include a sneak peek photo, description, and an order-by date. The current box feature, a part of Box Showcase, allows you to build excitement while setting expectations for new subscribers. Here is more info on setting up this feature

Below is an example of a box description with a traditional subscription format.

August’s box theme is California Chic! This box will include 3 coordinating jewelry pieces perfect for showing off your summer tan. August’s box will also include a Rejuvenating Mask Moisturizer worth $40 to help our skin recover from time spent outside in the hot summer sun. The retail value of this box is $125+ and contains a special surprise for subscribers!

Below is an example of a box description with a sequential subscription format.

Your first box prepares you with all of the chef essentials you need for your cooking journey. Our boxes are sequential, meaning you start with box #1 and continuously build on your chef skills all the way through box #12 (and beyond!). Your first box will include 3 popular chef tools, 2 secret tricks of the trade from a celebrity chef, and recipe ideas and tips.

Have a surprise or personalized box?

We get it! Some boxes are intended to be a surprise each month or personally curated for each subscriber. In those cases, it's helpful to include a photo of what goodies may come in the next month's box as well as a description of some items or brands.

Below is an example of a surprise box description.

We're on the edge of our seats for next month's box! What comes in it? Well, that's a surprise! But here are some items that could be in yours: 3 coordinating jewelry pieces perfect for showing off your summer tan, a Rejuvenating Mask Moisturizer worth $40 to help our skin recover from time spent outside in the hot summer sun, or a Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. The retail value of this box is $125+ and contains an extra special surprise for pre-paid subscribers!

Display Past Boxes

This feature allows you to show off the themed boxes you featured in recent months, which gives potential subscribers a clearer picture of your box’s unique worth and value proposition. Here’s more info on setting this up

Why does this matter?

Conversion is the trickiest stage of the sales funnel, and the Past Boxes feature will help you increase the conversion rate on your Marketplace listing. When potential subscribers can see your promotional pictures and “real life” images of your subscription, they’ll be more excited about your box – and more likely to sign up.

Should I add a video?

A video is worth a thousand pictures. Customers can’t interact first hand with your products. Watching someone interact with the products is very important to help them understand the value of the box and introduce them to your brand. A short, high-quality video that is engaging and showcases your products will help you get more subscribers!

You will need to upload your video to YouTube first and then you can add your video to your listing via the Photos & Videos tab on the Marketplace Listing page.

Remember these three simple tips when creating a video:

  1. Make sure the video is bright and well-lit
  2. Display and discuss the box contents
  3. Keep it brief, informative, and engaging
