A Marketplace listing's Quality and Completion Score are two of the biggest factors Cratejoy considers when evaluating listings for being live on the Marketplace, and promotional opportunities.

Listing Quality includes the 6 sections covered in the Completion Score article (click here to learn more), and it also refers to the overall quality of your listings. Your listing should have a clear value proposition that speaks to your target buyer with well-written copy, high-quality photography, and clear expectations.

Investments you make in your listing mean more opportunities to be included in Cratejoy's merchandising and promotion efforts. Improving and maintaining high-quality listings yields higher buyer engagement and more sales.

Each section is also covered in our Listing Quality GuideWe highly encourage reviewing this guide, evaluating your listings, and making improvements regularly.

How the Listing Quality Score System Works
The goal of this system is to better serve the sellers and customers who make up the Cratejoy Community by setting clear expectations on what constitutes a high-quality listing. Instead of providing only one score for your listing, we will score each feature on a scale.

This detailed scoring helps us provide better feedback which your business can then use to optimize listings (this will increase merchandising opportunities and conversions). From there a total score is given and determined if it meets:

  • The minimum for Marketplace standards (to be live on the Marketplace)

  • The minimum for Merchandising standards (to be included in upcoming promotions and affiliate programs)

If a listing score falls beneath the minimum for Cratejoy Marketplace standards, it will be rejected and you will be notified with specific guidance on how to improve your listing before submitting again for approval.

The minimum overall score for Marketplace is 9
The minimum overall score for Merchandising is 19

Categories & Subcategories

Why is proper categorization important?

Make sure your box is listed in the correct category & subcategory and sets buyer expectations. It can be tempting to choose a category that you feel may reach more people. However, this can hurt your sales if your box is not a match to that category.

Improper categorization also results in fewer opportunities for the Cratejoy team to feature and merchandise your box.

What is the purpose of categorizing my subscription box?

Selecting relevant categories for your subscription box will help customers discover your listing when they are browsing or searching for products related to your box.

If you would like to change the categories on an active listing(s), please email [email protected] with your listing URL(s) and the category changes you would like to request.
